These are based on drawings made in the Royal Museum for Central Africa (Koninklijk Museum voor Midden-Afrika) in Tervuren (Belgium). The intend of the title is intended to be ironic. No culture, no one, and in particular no woman is a found object. The floating background refers to the philosophical notion of a tabula rasa. The idea that there is a blank page which is the common 'page' for all people. In my artwork here, the page floats and is hardly a neutral backdrop and in fact seems more like an emblem, more like a presence than an absence. The three views here show how even slightly differing presentations alters the picture.
