TamTam is an annual multicultural festival of theatre, dance, music with an accent on involving the diverse cultures of Leiden north's inhabitants.
Between 23 May and 1 June 2008 most events took place in a large circus tent on the corner of the Surinamestraat + Bonairestraat.
The TamTam gallery was held between 9 May - 9 June 2008. An exhibition in various windows of shops, and other buildings in the neighbourhood.
There was a 'bread' installation of golden loaves in a Moroccan bakery, embroidered photographic images of Leiden bakers in another bakery, an installation on the theme of migration in a hair stylist's, images of cats accompanying songtitles of the 1980 Euro-song Festival, images of balloons, glass sculpture and a lightbox as well as paintings and prints by the 36 artists who participated in the exhibition.
Free tours were made along the 'gallery' route and to close the show one of the artists performed his rap numbers on the Beatrixstraat.
